Ila McClellan Asay was born Friday, June 30, 1922 in Glenwood to William Jeppe and Estella Nielson McClellan.


She married Joseph Glen Asay on June 5, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple.


Ila was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a great cook at cooked several meals for the Senior Citizens in Monroe.


She was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings. Ila enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her flower garden and raspberry patch.


She enjoyed canning and preserving the produce grown in her garden. Ila liked quilting, needle work, and crocheting.


She loved her children and grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. She was a devoted mother and wife for 68 years. She will be missed dearly.


Ila passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009 in Richfield. She was 86.


Ila left to cherish her memory her husband, Joseph, Monroe; children, Bonnie (Ray) Campbell, Sandy; Steve Asay, West Valley City; Stanley Asay, Monroe; Tex
(Susan) Asay, Cedar City; and Shane (Lorna) Asay, Sandy; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace (Zurrell) Potter, Loa; Lucile Edwards, Bicknell; brother, Niel (Susan) McClellan, St. George; sister-in-law, Ardell McClellan, Richfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Fern (Miles) Roberts and Elsie (Bertrum) Larsen; brother, John (Gayle) McClellan; and two great-granddaughters.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Monroe Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 159 South Main Street in Monroe. Calling hours were held at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel in Monroe on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Ila was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services in the Monroe City Cemetery in Monroe.
