Joseph Glen Asay, 93,of Monroe, Utah, passed away July 22, 2010, in Richfield. He was born January 18, 1917, in Frutia, Colorado, to Joseph Lawrence and Nellie Naomi Barney Asay.

He married Ila McClellan, June 5, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death May 7, 2009. Dad was self employed as an electrician and owned an appliance and repair
store. Later he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Tuba City and the Bureau of Reclamation in Page, Az. He retired in 1979 and moved back to Monroe. He had a variety of jobs: herded sheep, farmer, and central electric parts runner. He believed in self sufficiency. He raised a
garden, cows, chickens, and pigs to help sustain life. Joe was also a member of the Monroe fire department for over 18 years.

He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Ray) Campbell, Sandy; Steve Asay, West Valley City; Stanley Asay, Monroe; Tex (Susan) Asay, Cedar City; Shane (Lorna) Asay, Sandy; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ilene Julander, Panguitch; Donna Williams, Henderson, Nev; Virginia Ogden, Central Valley. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Ila; brother, Neal D. (Cathleen) Asay; four brothers-in-law, Wendall Allen, Afton Julander, Paul Williams, Howard Ogden; two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. in the
Monroe 1st and 4th LDS Ward Chapel (49 E. 200 N.). Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Monroe on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion
