Mattie's birthplace, according to "Arcadia's Laughter and Tears" (see father's bio) was Valley county, where they moved to from Douglas Grove, near Comstock, Custer Co., NE in the Spring of 1878.

Mrs. Albert (Martha Elizabeth) Apperson, nee Martha Elizabeth Bennett, she was born on September 22, 1878 near Arcadia (Nebraska) and she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dick (Carrie) McCaslin of Broken Bow, Nebraska, on February 14, 1944, at the age of 65 years.

On Feb. 9, 1897 she was married to Albert F. Apperson. To this union were born ten children who are all living. The spent most of their life on a farm west of Comstock, Nebraska.

While there,she united with the Methodist Church. In 1932 they moved on a rance north of Burwell (Nebraska). In 1936, they moved to Ansley, Nebraska where Mr. Apperson passed away.

After her husband's death (Dec. 19, 1936), she spent almost a year visiting her children in California and Washington. She was called home by the death of her fathe, W. D. Bennett, and from that time until her passing, she spent most of her time caring for her aged mother. She was taken seriously ill Monday morning at the home of her daughter in Broken Bow and passed away the same evening.

She leaves to mourn her going four daughters, Mrs. Claude Thomas of Mitchell, Nebraska, Mrs. Dick Mcaslin and Mrs. Wesley Mattox of Broken Bow and Mrs. Robert Morrison of Spokane, Washington, and six sons, William Apperson of Shelton, Missouri, Warren, George and Woodrow of California, Ellwyn of Burwell, Nebraska and Walter serving with the armed forces overseas, her aged mother, Mrs. Warren Bennett of Arcadia (Nebraska), 5 brothers, also 24 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a kind and loving mother, always thinking of the welfare of others. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

The funeral was held at Wescott (Covenant Church, Wescott, 2 miles southwest of Comstock, rural Custer County, Nebraska), with Rev. L. C. Schwanz (Pastor, Nazarene Church in Broken Bow, note) officiating. Burial was made beside her husband in the Wescott Cemetery.
