W. W. BENNETT SUCCOOMBS TO PNEUMONIA ATTACK
W. W. Bennett, aged 54 years, 9 months and 12 days, passed away at his home in Bassett Saturday, April 23, after but a few days illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Bennett and family came to Rock county in 1904 and settled on a homestead where they resided for 18 years. Seven years ago they built a new home in Bassett and since that time have resided here. For several years Mr. Bennett has been employed by the county operating the county road grading outfit.
William Warren Bennett was born in Pulaski, N. Y., on July 11, 1877. He was the oldest son in a family of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bennett. When he was four months old his parents moved to Valley county, Nebraska, and with the exception of a few years spent in Wyoming his home has since been in this state.
On December 13, 1905 Mr. Bennett was united in marriage to Bessie L. Ferris and to this union four sons were born, Clarence, Howard, Wayne and Dallas.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and four sons, one granddaughter; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bennett; six brothers, David of Sargent; Fred of Mason City; Roy of Kearney; Lloyd of Scottsbluff; Ralph of Grand Island and Roy of Arcadia; also two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Apperson of Burwell and Mrs. Rosetta Johnson of Fallon, Nev.
Mr. Bennett was a loyal husband and devoted father and will be missed by the community of which he was a part.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Mason Frazell of Ewing officiating. Interment was in the Bassett cemetery.
