Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with the Rev. Douglas DeNeui officiating. Burial will be held following the service at the Arcadia City Cemetery.

Ellwyn L. Apperson was born Oct. 21, 1920, at Wescott to Albert and Martha (Bennett) Apperson. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1939. He was united in marriage to Wilma Owens on Nov. 29, 1941, at Loup City. He spent his life farming in the Arcadia and Loup City areas. He retired from farming in 1990 and moved into Loup City. Due to poor health, in 2009 he moved to Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Ellwyn is survived by two sons, Jim and wife, Peggy of Bella Vista, Ark., Edwin and wife, Wanda of Tracy, Minn.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; parents; five brothers and four sisters.
