Lydia E. Newton was born February 11, 1931, in Overton, Nebraska to Fred and Clara (Schwarz) Woehrle. She passed away Tuesday, March 5, 1996. at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Lydia was baptized on March 15, 1931, and renewed her bapismal vows through confirmation on May 26, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lexington. she attended the Lutheran grade school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School withthe class of 1950. On November 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Marvin A. Newton in Lexington. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1993.
Lydia was a lifelong member of Trinity Luterhan Church in Lexington. She was an avid reader and homemaker. Everyone was always welcome in her home and called her mom.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one stepson, Lonnie; one brother, Clarence; one sister, Eva Dore; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Surviors include a son, Gregory, of Lexington; four daughters, Yvonne and husband Robert mathews of Johnson lake, Connie and husband Franklin Law of Overton, Christie and husband Dennis Oberhauser of Grand Island, Nancy Newton of Lexington; one step daughter, Lynn Minnitti of Simi Valley, California; three brothers, Arnold and Harry Woehrle of Lexington, and Roger Woehrle of Northglenn, Colorado; seven grandchildren and two great grandsons.
