Nannie W. (Grandstrand) Anderson passed away March 25, 2005. She was the daughter of Charles and Esther Malmberg, of Lindstrom. She was born May 19, 1910, at their home north of Lindstrom.

She attended country school at Lindstrom High School (Chi-Hi). She attended St. Cloud State College and began her teaching career. She taught in several one-room country grade schools at Sparta, Wis.; Barnum, Minn.; Lindstrom, Minn.; and Chisago Lakes School at Chisago City. She retired in 1975 after 38 years of teaching.

She was married to Phillip R. Grandstrand, of Shafer, July 3, 1937. They moved to Tomah, Wis., where Phillip was employed as an auditor for the Petroleum Division in St. Paul. Phillip passed away in 1963.

In 1969 she married Arthur W. Anderson, of Chisago City, and moved to Lindstrom.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther Malmberg; sister, Ruth Carlson, of Minneapolis; and grandson, Todd Grandstrand, of Maple Plain.

She is survived by Charles and Dorothy Grandstrand, of Wyoming, Minn.; David and Karen Grandstrand, of Maple Plain, Minn.; and David and Phyllis Johnson, of Center City, Minn.; brother-in-law, Edwin Anderson and Margaret, of Del Ray Beach, Florida; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

Nan and Art traveled after retirement to Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Israel. They also traveled to many states on the West and East Coast.

She was active in the church (Zion) and community activities. She expressed her faith through many outlets delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteer driving, senior citizens, and member of the Federal Housing Board of Lindstrom. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, growing flowers, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, enjoyed reading, music, and visiting her families and friends.

Her most recent years were spent at the Green Acres Country Care Center, where she passed quietly into God’s hands on March 25, 2005. Nan will be dearly missed by all of her family, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Grandstrand Funeral Home, in Lindstrom, Wednesday, March 30. Interment was at Chisago Lakes Memorial Cemetery, in Chisago City.

The family prefers memorials to the Green Acres Country Care Center in lieu of flowers.
