Sarah Shotwell, daughter of Jacob and Dorcas Drake Shotwell, was born in Union County, New Jersey. At some time between the 1850 census and 1857 she removed from New Jersey with her family and settled in Tazewell County, where she married Jonathan Drake on June 27, 1857. Jonathan and Sarah had 11 children.
