Zora Mae Addington Hughes, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born Sept. 9, 1924, in the Bethlehem community to Elzie Houston Addington and Leaner Kennedy Addington. She was a resident of Amory for many years. She was a graduate of the Smithville schools. She was married to Stanley Creed Hughes in 1946; he died in 1994. She was a retired seamstress with the area garment industry. She was a member of Trace Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and playing the piano.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jamie Stark officiating. Burial will be in Young Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Glen Hughes and his wife, Linda, and Joseph Joe Russell Hughes and his wife, Romma, both of Amory; three brothers, Dow Addington and Olen Addington, both of Amory and Dexter Addington of Smithville; three sisters, Wonnie Plunkett of Smithville, Velda Hetland of Amory and Berniece Roberts of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Michael Wayne Douell, Amy Leigh Dillard, Austin Skylar Hughes and Michael Landon Hughes, all of Amory.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Carolyn Douell; two sisters, Velmer Addington and Dorothy Addington; two brothers, John and Arthur Addington.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Kuykendall, Ernest Chism, Anthony Lann, Cecil Stark, Tommy Thompson and Michael Morris.
