Dow W. Addington, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at his residence. He was born April 17, 1917, in Monroe County. He lived most of his life in Amory. He was a Baptist. He was married to Orene Frances Coker in 1935; she died in 1995. He was a retired employee of True Temper Sports with 15 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. His hobbies included wood working.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Charles Faust and Bro. Tommy Oatsvall officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Audra Oatsvall and her husband, Tommy, of Camden, Tenn., and Debra Edwards and her husband, Jerry, of Verona; two brothers, Deck Addington of Smithville and Olen Addington of Amory; two sisters, Velda Hetland of Amory and Bernice Roberts of Phoenix; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie Houston Addington and Leaner Jane Kennedy Addington; his brothers, John A. Addington and Arthur A. Addington; and four sisters, Zora Mae Hughes, Wonnie Plunkett, Dorothy Addington and Velma Addington.

Pallbearers will be Scott Addington, Lance McFarling, Kim Oatsvall, Larry Oatsvall, Jeffery Oatsvall, Thomas Oatsvall and Chris Nichols.
