Laid At Rest In Riverview
Long Funeral Cortege Forms in Tribute to Robert M. Holmes
Beautiful services were held yesteday afternoon for Robert Holmes from his late residence southwest of town at two o'clock. Friends in legion numbers were present and the funeral cortege which moved to the Riverview cemetery was one of the largest ever to enter the grounds.
Those who attended the coffin were R.M. Bradford, W.E. Swift, C.W. Harber, George B. Koontz, and B.W. Cossell, and T. M.Hoartys. Flowers in profusion graced the decendents last resting place, tributes from friends in all parts of the country.
Besides his wife and children, five granddaughters Winifred, Margaret, Robert, David, and Jean daughters of Mr. and Mrs. David F. Holmes remain.

Aged Resident Of Reading Calmed At Early Hour This Morning
It is with great sadness that the community recieved word of the death of Robert Holmes, pioneer resident of this section which occurred at his home near Munster in Reading twp. at six o'clock this morning. Paralysis, together with infirmities of old age, were attributed as the cause of his demise. For eight years the decedent had been most intimate with him were acqainted with his illness.
For sixty-three years he was a resident of this locality and by industry and good management had aquired several hundred acres of land with the assistance of his sons he had brought to a high state of production. He was very well known among the farmers of the Munster section and was held in highest respect by all who knew him.
He was the son of David and Mary Holmes, deceased, and was born in Findan Hill Farm, near Newcastle, England, seventy eight years ago. He resided in Ohio for one year, in Pennsylvania fourteen years and the remainder of his life was spent here, where he followed the occupation of farming.
On August 19, 1880, he was united in marriage with Annie Alexander at the St. Andrew's church in Farm Ridge and to this union four children were born, one of whom preceded him in death. Those who remain with the mother are Ralph R. Holmes and Blanche Holmes at home and David Holmes who lives southwest of Munster.
Funeral services will be held from the farm residence Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
