He was born January 9, 1925 in Meade County, Kentucky the son of Shellie Givans Sr. and Tima Jean Jones Givans.

Mr Givans was a retired maintenance worker for the City of Brandenburg.

Survivors include his friend, Mary Leora Mattingly; seven children; three sisters, Wanda Halbert, Imogene Miller and Viola James; two brothers, Damon Givans and Shelly Givans Jr.
