Wanda Pearl Givans Halbert, 69, died Saturday, April 12, 1997 at Columbia Hospital Suburban in Louisville.

She was born May 12, 1927, the daughter of the late Shellie B. Givans Sr. and Tisney "Tima" Elizabeth Jones Givans. She retired in 1975 from the Fort Knox Laundry and was a member of Meade County Senior Citizens. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Alex Halbert Jr. in 1972 and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Alex Halbert Sr.; two children, Wilma Jo Hockman of Brandenburg and Gary Lee Halbert of Scottsburg, Indiana; one sister, Viola James of Marion; one brother, Shellie Givans Jr. of Brandenburg; five grandchildren; one step-grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from First Baptist Church with Dr. Billy D. Marcum and Rev. Gary McAbee officiating. Burial was in Cap Anderson Cemetery, directed by Hager Funeral Home.
