Mrs. Irene WALTERS, 61, R.R. 1, Akron, died at 11 p.m. Friday in her home following a coronary attack. Death was unexpected, although she had been in failing health for two years.
Born May 6, 1909 in Fulton county, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Alta GARVER McGRIFF. She had resided in Henry township since 1943, moving there from the Richland Center community. She was married May 24, 1930 in Marshall county to Harold E. WALTERS, who survives.
She was a member of the Athens United Methodist church, the church WSCS and the Akron Jonah Club, Inc.
Surviving with the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Kathryn) HARTZLER, R.R. 1, Akron, and Mrs. George (Jean Ann) DEATON, Bourbon; two sons, Lloyd E. WALTERS, R.R. 1, Akron, and Herschel W. WALTERS, Plymouth; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ermal (Lois) McKEE and Mrs. Leon (Jeanette) LEFFERT, both of near Argos. A son and a sister preceded in death.
Last rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Athens United Methodist church with the Rev. Wayne JOHNSON officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Center I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster & Good funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday and until 11 a.m. Monday and at the church for one hour before services. The family request memorials other than flowers be in the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.
