Clarence Bridges
SHELBY Mr. Clarence Bridges, 85, died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late C. Edgar and Bertha J. Green Bridges. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired federal employee with the Washington, D.C., District Unemployment Compensation Board. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon, Sunday school teacher, a member of the senior choir, American Legion, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Troy Bridges, Mont Bridges and Clement Bridges; and one sister, Ester Bridges.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Kappelman Bridges; one son, Edgar W. Bridges and wife, Suzanne, of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Hessie Harris and husband, Thomas, and Nancy Tessneer, all of Boiling Springs; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Trettin of Mason City, Iowa, Lillian Bridges and Annie Mae Bridges, both of Boiling Springs; and grandchildren, Emily Bridges and Andrew Bridges, both of Baltimore, Md.

Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors.
