Catherine Coiner was the daughter of Michael Keinath (1720-1796) and his wife, Margaret Diller (1733/44-1813). They are buried at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Crimora, VA. (COINER is a variant of the surname KEINATH.)

Catherine married George Slagle (1761-1828) in Cumberland County PA in 1789. George Slagle was a drummer boy with the York County PA militia during the Revolution. His Crimora, VA gravestone reads: "George Slagle Drummer Forman's PA Troops, Revolutionary War." The PA digital archives confirm that George Slagle served with the York County Militia.

Catherine's father, Michael Keinath also served during the Revolution, as did each of his four sons.

Catherine and George Slagle were the parents of 12 children, one of whom was Margaret Slagle (1794-aft 1843), the wife of Jonathan Fellows (Fellers) (c 1795-aft 1843). Margaret and Jonathan were married on Jan 8, 1822 in the Shenandoah Valley (VA) of their childhood and moved that year to Ohio and to Whitley County, Indiana 10 years later.

Their 2nd child was Sarah Fellows (Fellers) Ireland (1829-1921), wife of Martin Ireland MD (1821-1904). Martin and Sarah Ireland's daughter, Arabelle America Ireland (1850-1895) married James E Dorland (1834-1915) on Sept 25, 1872 in Columbia City, IN.

Arabelle and James Dorland, of Louisville, KY are the great-grandparents of this contributor, Richard Baldwin Cook, from whose book(s) ALL OF THE ABOVE I & II, this biographical information is excerpted. (See the contributor's page for more details.)
