KNOX WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Lou Jean Garner Knox, 80, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 12, 1928 in Union County, SC, the daughter of the late Davis and Bessie Adams Garner. Mrs. Knox was a former active member of Union Cross Baptist Church and was presently a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Knox and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, Steve Knox and wife, Nancy of King, Randy Knox and wife, Martha of Winston-Salem and Brent Knox of Butner; one daughter, Karen Harvell and husband, Michael of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Andy Knox and wife, Danna, Stephanie Collins and husband, Charles, Cindy Pruitt and husband, Keith, Brandon Knox, Adam Knox, Seth Knox and wife, Jannifer, Michelle Harvel and Marina Harvel; three great-grandchildren, Noah Pruitt, Gracie Pruitt and Tucker Knox; one brother, Donald Garner of Union, SC; and four sisters, Betty Dean Harvey of Jonesville, SC, Joyce Blakley and husband, Bobby of Columbia, SC, Nathalie Comer of Union, SC and Patsy Garner of Columbia, SC. The Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Don Griffin and Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church Bus Ministry, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Central Regional Hospital, 300 Veazey road, Butner, NC 27509.
