Mrs. Betty Garner Harvey, age 86, passed away February 1, 2019 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg.
A native of Jonesville, Mrs. Harvey was the wife of the late Francis Stehle Harvey and the daughter of the late Davis Roy Garner and Bessie Adams Garner. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was retired from the Union Co. Department of Social Services. She was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church. She loved gardening her flowers, her church and enjoyed the Senior Center of Jonesville.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita H. Ivey and husband Tommy of Jonesville and Sheila H. Chapman of Spartanburg; one son, Terry W. Harvey of Holly Hill and a sister, Pat Garner of Columbia. Her grandchildren are Cam Robinson and wife Nancy of Jonesville, Clint Robinson and wife Amanda of Boiling Springs, Brittany Williams and husband Phillip of Neeses, and Liza and Luke Chapman of Boiling Springs. Her great-grandchildren are Carson and Carter Robinson of Boiling Springs. Mrs. Harvey was predeceased by a son, Michael Dean Harvey; a son-in-law, Robby Chapman; sisters, Nathalee Comer, Thelma Thrasher, Margaret Howell, Lou Jean Knox and Joyce Blakely and brothers, Wilbur, Everette, Hershal, Leonard and Donald Garner.
The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to the staff and nurses of Comfort Keepers, especially Jamie Ellison and Ashley Cook, along with the staff and nurses of Waterford at Dillon Pointe and White Oak Estates for the care and love shown to Mrs. Harvey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 4, 2019 at Jonesville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey and Rev. David Clyburn. Burial will be at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 787, Jonesville, SC 29353.
The family will be at the home, 120 Stehle St., Jonesville.
