William Barnhart, 69, Meta, Mo., passed away April 20 at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. Barnhart was born Aug. 4, 1902, in Maries County near Van Cleve, the son of George David and Cordelia (Pendleton) Barnhart. He was married April 19, 1930 in Vienna to Bonnie Wilson, who survives.

Barnhart lived in Meta from 1923 to 1932 and worked on the Rock Island Railroad as a crewman for five years. He spent the rest of his life near Meta where he farmed.

Barnhart was a member of the Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene since 1948. He was baptized at the Camp Ground Christian Church. Barnhart was a Layman, an usher and served on the Church Board at the Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Riley Barnhart in 1939 and his parents, George David and Cordelia Barnhart. Other survivors include one son, Ernest Barnhart of Meta; two brothers, Arlie Barnhart and Oda Barnhart, both of Meta; six sisters, Eva Champlain, Ella Seaton and Corda Rakes all of Meta, Lizzie Copeland and Mary Duncan, both of Dixon and Martha Wilson of Iberia.

Funeral services were held April 22 at the Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene with the Rev Milton Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Stokes Cemetery near Meta under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Meta. Pallbearers were Steadman Copeland, James Duncan, Howard Wilson, Manuel Seaton, Gene Wilson, Charles Lewis Barnhart, Joe Champlain, Raymond Wilson, Harold Champlain and DeWayne Rakes.
