Note: After her father passed away she was raised by her aunt and uncle William Tedford Paslay and Anna Miessen Paslay as to why her last name is occasionally seen as Paslay.

Vera M. Ware, 83, of Wenatchee, went home to heaven on Thursday, May 7, 1998.

She was born Nov. 14, 1914, to Katherine Miessen Bagwell and George W. Bagwell. She graduated from high school in Rochester, Wash., and after graduation went to work in Seattle where she met and married Lincoln F. Haley in May 1934. They were the parents of a daughter and two sons. In the mid-1940s, Vera chose to move back to the Wenatchee Valley. She met Ted C. Ware at Winesap and they were married in Spokane, Jan. 1, 1948. After their marriage they resided at Winesap, their home being the original post office building.

Vera was a longtime member of the Entiat Friends Church and was active in many projects, especially mission work both foreign and domestic. She was a gourmet cook and helped to cater many special events at the church. Vera was especially famous for her pies. Vera could always be depended on to "get the job done." She was a homemaker par excellence, a warm hostess, good neighbor and friend. She was an avid gardener and grew beautiful flowers and organic vegetables which she generously shared. Vera was happiest in her garden. She also did beautiful embroidery, quilting and striking hand-designed Christmas tree ornaments.

Vera leaves behind a daughter, Eleanor Haley Jones; a son, James Haley-Ware b: 4 Nov 1941; five grandsons, Roy, David, Robert and Christopher Jones and William Ware; three granddaughters, Diane Jones Perry, and Hyacinth and Heather Ware; seven great-grandchildren, Brian, Mandy, Tiffany, Alicia, Bryn, Katie and Chelsea; a great-grandson, Dylan; two brothers, Tom Bagwell of Chelan and Ervin Shipman of Port Orchard; special lifelong friends Lud and Nellie Rossmaier of Shelton; many nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert William Haley; her husband, Ted C. Ware; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Services are under the care of Betts Funeral Service, Wenatchee.
