Married the daughter of Yolo county pioneer Abraham Gardiner Barnes whose property he later acquired and made the center of his business activities. California State Senator for Yolo and Sonoma counties 1880, two-time Yolo county supervisor 1875, large farmer of over 3000 acres in Yolo county and 1800 acres in Fresno county. Murdered Everett L. Craft in downtown Woodland on 6 Feb 1886 but was never fully tried for the case. Died at the home of his daughter in Winters. He was buried Sunday, May 7, 1905.
