"MRS BROWN DIES OF HEART ATTACK

PROMINENT YOLO COUNTY WOMAN SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY

Mrs Richard Marion Brown, 71, life-long resident of Yolo county and one of this community's most cultured residents, died suddenly Monday night at her home from a heart attack.

During the afternoon, she had worked at the Harmony Circle rummage sale at the Leithold building on Main street and had gone home earlier than she expected to because she said she did not feel well.

IN GOOD HEALTH
Her husband summoned a physician and a few hours later the prominent Woodland resident succumbed.

She had been in the best of health until Monday and there was no indication that she might be stricken ill suddenly.

Mrs Brown was born near Woodland, May 1, 1870. Her parents were Joseph Helm Harlan, a widely known Yolo county man, and Grace Hannah Barnes Harlan. She attended the county schools and later matriculated at old Hesperian college. Her many friends looked upon her as a woman of culture who took great pride in being mentally alert.

Mrs Brown became the bride of Mr Brown December 24, 1895. The couple had lived here continuously and had been active in community affairs. Mrs Brown had been a member of the Christian church since childhood.

ACTIVE IN CLUB WORK
For recreation, besides reading and helping her friends she took an active part in club work. She was president of the Shakespeare club from 1919 to 1921and served for many years on the Ann Blake Ryder board. Besides being associated with harmony circle, No 2, she was a member of the missionary society of the Christian church.

She is survived by her husband; two sisters, Mrs Susan McGill of Woodland and Mrs Victorine Sill of Berkeley and two brothers, Joseph L Harlan of Woodland and William C Harlan of Santa Rosa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday at the McNary Funeral home." END
