W. H. Eller Dead at Grangeville - William H. Eller, 76, died at the Grangeville General Hospital Monday, from a stroke suffered 10 days ago.
Mr. Eller was born July 11, 1876, at Triplett, Mo. He was married Dec. 22, 1907, to Pansey Mathewson at Grangeville. He had lived in and around Grangeville for 66 years. He was marshall at Cottonwood before 1915 and served a number of years as deputy sheriff under Lafe Yates. He was elected sheriff of Idaho County in 1916, serving until 1920. In 1924 he was re-elected sheriff, serving one term. In 1928 he served as deputy sheriff under Wayne Bezona. Mr. Eller returned to farming and stock raising near Grangeville, until about eight years ago. He then retired and moved into Grangeville and had been operating an apartment house at Grangeville until his death. Mr. Eller was an active member of the Democratic Party in Idaho and was a communicant of the Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pansy, and one son, Everett of Kamiah. Two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Tefft of Grangeville, and Mrs. A. S. Nash of Spokane, and two brothers, Tom of Waitsburg, and Henry of Alberta, Canada, also survive him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Ailor Funeral Chapel at Grangeville. The Rev. Glenn Warner, First Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
