OBITUARY OF jAMES LESLEY GENTRY (as reported by Holdenville Daily News on June 25, 1968)

Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday for James Lesley Gentry, 81, who died Sunday in Wetumka General Hospital.

Rev. Russell Murrell will conduct services at First Baptist Church, Holdenville. He will be assisted by Rev. Larry Fitch. Burial will be in Holdenvillde Cemetery under direction of Hudson Funeral Home.

Born in Gainsboro, Tenn., March 31,1887, he came to this area in 1906.

Survivors are two sons, Elmer of Oklahoma City, Ed of Brea, Ca; seven daughters; Mrs. Beulah Terry, Shawnee, Mrs. Lucille Carson, Olton, Texas; Mrs. Goldie Russell, Canon City, CO, Mrs. Sylvia Wilson, Holdenville, Mrs. Martha Florence Smith, Sidney, Neb.; Mrs. Wilma Sanders, Tulsa; Mrs. Rose Evans, Abilene, Tx; 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Vollie Scott, Mrs. Velah Smith, both of Hilham, Tn; Mrs. Bertha Carlile, Cookville, Tn., Ruth Gentry, Chicago, Illinois; four brothers, John & Thurman, both of Cookville, Tn.; Joe Ed & Silas, both of Chicago, Ill.

Pallbearers will be Claude Holt, Dean Pugh, John Sieber, Wilson Terry, Ernest Taylor, Orland Roberts.

J.L. Gentry went to Indian Territory in the early 1900's. He migrated from his native home in Gainesboro, Tenn.
