Obituary March 20, 1943: Mrs. Fred Borer of Belmont Township passed away Saturday morning following a heart attack although seemingly in good health up to that day. Her sudden death was a shock to her family and to the entire community.
Mary Ellen Skelton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Ruth Foote) Henry Skelton was born in Ford County, Illinois, February 4, 1872. Miss Skelton was married to Fred Borer on September 1, 1897 at Pontiac, Illinois. They farmed in Illinois for six years. Two of their three sons, Lloyd and Archie, were born there.
In 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Borer moved to Webster County, where they farmed for seven years. Their third son Alvie was born during their residence in Iowa.
In 1910 they moved to Belmont Township, Minnesota, and with the exception of one year spent in California, have lived in the neighborhood where the family now resides.
Mrs. Borer was a quiet unassuming person. Her joy was her home and family. She was a wonderful mother and was loved by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed in her neighborhood.

Mrs. Borer passed from this life early Saturday morning from the effects of a stroke. At the time of her going she had attained the age of 71 years, 1 month and 16 days.
Besides her husband, their three sons, Lloyd, Archie and Alvie and their wives and seven grand children, she leaves to mourn her going, four brothers and four sisters. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Presbyterian Church in Windom.
The services were in charge of Rev. DeBeer. Favorite songs of Mrs. Borer were sung by a quartette, Mrs. Noel Elness, Miss Marion Erickson, Louis Reeve and R.E. Skellie. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Among the many out of town relatives and friends who came from away to attend the funeral were two of Mrs. Borer's brother's, James Skelton of Cabery, Illinois and William Skelton of Vesta, Minnesota, and two of Mr. Borer's brother's, Henry Borer of Lehi, Iowa and Peter Borer of Cabery, Illinois.
The casket bearers were Messrs. John Egge, Chris Roesner, John Chester, Obert Knutson, Albert Nieman and Arthur Kerns.
Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
