Rossville, April 3. - David D. Hufford, 88, a resident of this community most all his life and retired carpenter-contractor; died at the home of his daugther, Mrs. Frank Replogle, west of Rossville, at 4:20 o'clock this morning. He had been in declining health for the past five weeks but only bedfast since Sunday.
Born in Carroll county May 16, 1853, he was widely known throughout the southern section of that county as well as in Clinton county. His parents were Andrew and Sarah Hufford. His wife, who was Mary Withers, died several years ago.
Surviving near relatives are five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Snyder of Rossville, Mrs. Dora Bricker residing south of Rossville, Mrs. Cora James of Kentland, Mrs. Frank Replogle and Mrs. Earl Mason, the latter of Tipton; three sons, Walter of Geetingsville, Charles of Pacific Grove, Calif, and Earl of Rossville. He also leaves four brothers, Reuben of Chicago, Daniel of Illinois, isaac of Owasco and John of Rossville, and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Leib of Rossville.
Mr. Hufford served for many years as a deacon in the Rossville Church of the Brethren and funeral rites will be conducted at the church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Robert Sink officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery, southwest of Rossville.
The body is at the L.E. Moore & Son funeral home, where friends may call.
