The 1909 HUFFORD FAMILY HISTORY does not list a child born in 1864. However, even as difficult to read as the stone is, that is the date on the stone. The stone appears to have been placed soon after burial. It is a small stone and a very old stone. It is directly next to the large stone of the parents.

The findagrave photo volunteer who photographed the stone also "fingered" the stone and did a pencil rubbing of the stone. She reported the year of death as 1864.

Reporting the date on the stone is easy. However, fitting that information into known information about the family is difficult: This child's mother (Sarah Catharine Cripe, Mrs. Andrew Hufford) is known to have birthed a child in August 1863, and she is known to have birthed a child in July 1864. As such, a birth in April 1864 simply does not fit. It is believed that the stone is in error, and that the year on the stone is actually 1874. However, because the stone says 1864, that's what the entry on findagrave will say.
