Delores "Dode" Beier
November 24, 2009 Delores "Dode" Beier, age 81, of Wonewoc died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on June 8, 1928 in Woodland Township, Sauk County, the daughter of Rhineholt and Cecil (Mortimer) Hendricks. She attended Valton Grade School and graduated from Wonewoc High School. On June 25, 1948, Dode married Dean Beier in the Valton Friends Church. She lived her entire life in the Valton community and raised two sons on the family dairy farm. A devoted wife and mother, Dode was excellent homemaker and outstanding cook. She was known by her grandchildren as making the best apple pie and homemade dill pickles. She was active in the Valton Friends Church, the WCTU, and the Women's Missionary Union. Every year she helped sew and donate around 50 children's quilts to the Sauk County Sherriff's Department. Dode loved gardening and raising flowers in her "wayside" across the road from her home. She appreciated God's beauty in her valley and by driving around the countryside with her husband. A natural caretaker, she was known for her compassionate giving and kindness to others. Her Christian witness is left as a loving legacy to her family and friends.
She is survived by Dean, her husband of 61 years,

Lewis "Bud" Hendricks of Edwardsville, Kansas She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings – Elma Lamphear, Merlin Hendricks, Ilis Dietz, and Lela Escher Garlic. Celebration of her life will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 28, 2009 in the Valton Friends Church, with Pastor Paul Willis officiating. Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Thompson Funeral Home, 402 Center St. Wonewoc, WI. and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in Dode's name may be made to Valton Friends Church. Thompson Funeral home is assisting the family.
