Daniel E. Askren, 82, of 3616 Lust Drive, Kansas City, Kan., died Saturday at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He was born in Corydon, Ind., and had lived in this area for 40 years. Mr. Askren was a steam pipe fitter for Local 533 of the Pipe Fitters Association. He was a former member of the United Methodist Church, Corydon. He was a member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge No. 54. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nellie W. Askren of the home; a son, Charles W. Askren, Lathrop, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Amos Chapel, Shawnee [KS]; burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel.
