Obit - Bert Darland - Services for Bert Edward Darland, 79, of Morton, were held recently in the Morton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Gregory, pastor officiating. Burial was in Morton Memorial Park under direction of Singleton Funeral Home of Morton. Darland died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov 29 at Cochran Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He moved to Morton in 1947 from Pep, N M. He married the former Elize Carroll, July 3, 1927, in Lubbock when he lived at Posey on Gentry Lane. Darland was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Morton. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Donna Nesbitt of Morton, Lavon Sullivan of Hamilton, Beatrice Ruzicka of Lubbock and Berta Combs of Muleshoe; two brothers, Jessie of California and Olin of Morton; a sister, Mrs Lois Fannin of Lillinois; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
