Edward Skwarlo, 79, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Monday, July 12, 2004. He was born March 13, 1925 in Houston, a son of Konstanty Skwarlo and Caroline Madeja.

Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Skwarlo resided in Illinois.

He was a 1943 graduate of Chartiers High School and served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He served as a Bombardier, stateside.

On October 14, 1952 he married Natalie Carnaggio in Cook County, Illinois, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Gary E and Bruce E Skwarlo, both of Florida; two grandchildren, Julie and Alec; a brother, Walter Joseph Skwarlo of Texas; two sisters, Genevieve Tomsic of Canonsburg and Emelia Lawther of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Joseph Skwarlo and a sister, Helen Grykowski.

Services were held Saturday, July 17, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Baird-Case Funeral Home, Fort Lauderdale.

Lieutenant Skwarlo, a graduate of Chartiers High School with the class of 1943, was a basketball and football star as an undergraduate. He received his early training at Santa Anna, Calif.

Aviation Cadet Edward Skwarlo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Konstanty Skwarlo , Houston, was recently graduated from the Army Air Forces bomvardier school at Kirtland Field, Albequerque, N.M., and has been commissioned a second lieutentant and awarded his silver wings. - On October 12, 1944

Edward Skwarlo was elected vice president and director of Clare Ceramics. He was a founder of Vacuum Ceramics. - The Daily Herald, January 25, 1962.

Edward was chairman of the Pillar Preservation Committee of Mount Prospect - September 1966.
