Genevieve Skwarlo Tomsic, 87, formerly of Strabane, died Monday, March 7, 2005, in Tandem Village.

She was born November 8, 1917, in Houston, a daughter of Konstanty Skwarlo and Caroline Madeja.

Mrs. Tomsic graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1935 and worked as a dispatcher for Columbia Gas Co. for 25 years.

Along with her husband, she was co-owner of Tomsic Distributing in Canonsburg.

She was a 58-year member of Business and Professional Women of Canonsburg and a member of Canonsburg General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Her husband, William C. Tomsic, is deceased.

Deceased are two brothers, Joseph (Josephine) Skwarlo and Edward J (Natalie) Skwarlo and a sister, Helen (Joseph) Grykowski.

Surviving are a sister, Emelia (Robert H) Lawther, of Houston a brother, Walter J of DeSoto, Texas; sister-in-law, Natalie of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg.

Memorials are suggested to Canonsburg General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
