Patrick James McInerney, 82, passed away Fri., April 13, 2007 in Topeka.

Pat was born in Kansas City, KS on February 3, 1925, the son of Peter and Margaret Wall McInerney. He married the love of his life, his Irish rose, Margaret "Peggy" O'Shea on September 8, 1951 in KC, MO. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2000.

Pat was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he had served on Parish Council, St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, and was a former member of the VFW. He served in the 5th division of the US Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart while serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He owned and operated McInerney Marble and Tile.

Survivors include his sons, Peter McInerney and his wife, Maureen, KCMO, Patrick V. McInereny, New Orleans, Jerry McInerney and his wife, Debbie, Lawrence, Jim McInerney and his wife, Anne, Topeka; daughter, Patrice Ostmeyer and her husband, Stan, Quinter; a brother, Fr. Kieran McInerney at St. Benedict's Abbey, Atchison ; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings, Sr. Mary Helen McInerney SCL, Martin McInerney, Jane Cummings and Mary Margaret McInerney.

Visitation will be held Tues. from 5 to 7 p.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church where a rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wed. at the church.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict's Abbey, Atchison KS and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614.

Pat will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
