Mary Margaret "Marge" McInerney, 70, Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 1999, after a prolonged illness.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Friday, February 19, at St. Peter's Catholic Church; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka, KS.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at McGilley State Line Chapel, with a rosary at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth or to the Benedictine Brazilian Fund in Atchison, KS.

Margie was born December 14, 1928, in Kansas City, KS.

She graduated from Visitation Grade School, Hogan High School, St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Denver, CO, and St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS.

She entered the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth in 1947 and was known then as Sister Mary Pierre. As a Sister of Charity, she worked as nurse/supervisor in their hospitals in California, Colorado, Kansas, Montana and New Mexico.

She also worked at Veteran's Hospital in Kansas City, St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City and several nursing homes. Marge was a dedicated nurse who put patient care first on the priority list.

She was a selfless, loving nurse who never considered taking a holiday off because she felt that the patients would need her quiet support the most on those special days. She was an inspiration to those in the medical profession, often being consulted by the interns and doctors with regard to her patients care.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Martin

Survivors include two brothers, Patrick J. McInerney, Topeka, KS, and Father Kieren J. McInerney, OSB, Minerros, Brazil, and one sister, Sister Mary Helen McInerney, SCL. She also leaves behind numerous adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
