Gertrude Mork, 88, of Kenyon, died Wednesday (Dec. 10, 2008) at Charter House in Rochester.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Radcliff, Iowa. She received a degree in education from Mankato State University and a master's equivalency by attending distinguished universities across the country. She was a sixth grade teacher in Nashwauk, Minn., for more than 42 years, as well as a Girl Scouts camp counselor. She was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon, the VFW Auxiliary, and Alpha Delta Kappa sorority. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, and being with her friends and family. Her travels took her throughout the United States, Europe and South America.
Survivors include two sisters, Norma Thompson of Fort Collins, Colo., and Betty Mork of Owatonna; two sisters-in-law, Helen Mork of Albert Lea and Lois Mork of Kenyon; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Truman, Alvin, Carl and John; a sister, Jemina; a niece and a nephew.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon.
Memorials are preferred to Hauge Lutheran Church.
