KENYON -- The funeral for Carl R. Mork will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in Kenyon Cemetery, with the Kenyon Honor Guard providing military honors.
Mr. Mork, 78, a lifelong farmer in Richland Township, Rice County, Minn., died Tuesday (July 17, 2007) at his home.
Carl Rueben Mork was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Hardin County, Iowa. He attended school in Medford, Minn., and later in Kenyon, where he graduated in 1947. Following high school he farmed and later served in the Army in Korea after the Korean conflict. On June 16, 1957, he married Lois Kirkland in Rochester. Mr. Mork served on the Board of Directors at the Kenyon Farmers Mercantile and Elevator Co.; was a 31-year Director and Secretary of the Kenyon, Holden and Warsaw Mutual Fire Insurance Co.; was past commander of the Kenyon VFW; and was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen (Steven) Gray of Wellington, Fla., and Patti Jo Mork of Mason City, Iowa; two sons, Gary (Cathy) of DePere, Wis., and Brian (Jennifer) of Lakeville, Minn.; two grandchildren; a brother, Truman of Watertown, S.D.; and four sisters, Jemina Mork and Elizabeth Mork, both of Owatonna, Gertrude Mork of Kenyon and Norma Thompson of Cresco, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
