KENYON -- The funeral for Jemina A. Mork will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon with the Rev. Martin Horn officiating. Interment will be in Kenyon Cemetery.
Miss Mork, 88, a longtime teacher in Owatonna, formerly of Kenyon, died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2007) at her home.
Jemina Arlene Mork was born Dec. 24, 1918, in Hardin County, Iowa. She graduated from Radcliffe (Iowa) High School in 1935, and later attended Mankato (Minn.) State University, where she earned a master's degree in education. A teacher for more than 40 years, she taught briefly in rural Rice County (Minn.) schools, in Nerstrand and in Kenyon, and then taught for more than 30 years in Owatonna public schools. There she was once named teacher of the year. She was a member of several organizations including, MEA, AAUW Women's Club, and the Hospital Auxiliary. She was a charter member of Sons of Norway and Delta Kappa Gamma, where she was an officer in the local chapter, and was Sunday school superintendent at Hauge Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, Truman Mork of Watertown, S.D.; and three sisters, Gertrude Mork of Kenyon, Norma Thompson of Cresco, Iowa, and Elizabeth "Betty" Mork of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
