Parents: Leonard & Maria Freeland buried Milford, MA∼According to Early Settlers of New York State by Janet Wethy Foley, Sarah A. was the daughter of Leonard and Maria Freeland, Aug. 12, 1811 - Oct. 31, 1863. Buried at Milford, Mass. From the same source we learn that she was the wife of Peter Snyder, June 3, 1787 - Aug. 26, 1867, buried at Claverack, Columbia County, New York.
From these records and others, it appears that Sarah was the third child of Leonard Freeland and his wife Maria Van Deusen, married at Claverack, Columbia County, New York in 1806 at the Dutch Reformed Church. The two older children were John Augustus Freeland, born July 1807 (my ancestor), and Sophia Maria Freeland, born in 1809 and died at the age of about 28 years, and buried in the same cemetery as Peter Snyder.
