She was a daughter of Leonard Freeland and Maria Van Deusen. Her burial record in Early Settlers of New York by Janet Wethy Foley says that she was 22 and that she was Sophia G. Freeland, dau. of Leonard and Mariah and that she died Feb. 21, 1838, 22y. She is buried next to Aaron Gifford, who died April 23, 1837 at 60y 7m. (He was her uncle as her father, Leonard Freeland, was a brother of Sophia Freeland, the wife of Aaron Gifford.) There is a problem with the age of 22 years. The only Sophia Freeland, daughter of Leonard Freeland and Maria Van Deusen, that I find in other records was baptized at the Dutch Reformed Church of Claverack, Columbia County, New York in 1809.
