DEATH NOTICE (Redlands Daily Facts 8 Feb 1924)
F. C. Adams Dies at El Segundo - Well Known Resident of Redlands Dies at the Home of his Son.
F. C. Adams, of Buena Vista Street, for many years a resident of Redlands, and until a few months ago in the office of Redlands Highlands Fruit Exchange, dropped dead at the home of his son, William Adams, in El Segundo. Mr. Adams retired from active business life several months ago and has spent his time since then in doing the things, he told friends, he had been wanting to do for several years, reading books he did not have time to read, working at the home and things of that nature. And he was enjoying himself in doing the things he wanted to do. About a week ago Mrs. and Mrs. Adams went to El Segundo for a visit with their son. He was in good health and spirits and was having a happy time there, according to word received by relatives. Then this morning, he being absent from the house for some time, a search was made and he was found lying in the yard, dead. He had died of heart disease it is supposed although full details have not been received here. He leaves a widow and two sons, Clarence living near San Francisco and William at El Segundo. He was one of the leaders of the work in the First Presbyterian Church and had held many offices in the church. The body is being brought to this city this afternoon.

OBITUARY (Redlands Daily Facts 11 Feb 1924)
Funeral services of F. C. Adams were held in the First Presbyterian church this afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. S. W. Cummings in charge and Rev. A. G. Fessenden of San Bernardino, assisting. Dr. Cummings paid splendid tribute to the memory of Mr. Adams who was a power of strength to the Christian forces of the community and especially in the Presbyterian Church. He was a man of keen discrimination, strong convictions and faithful in the discharge of every duty. Dr. Fessenden represented the Presbytery of Riverside in honor of Mr. Adams' service as Moderator of that body in since 1922.

The church organist, Frank Cummings, played a number of favorite hymns at the opening of the service. The church quartet sang most beautifully "Abide With Me" and "Hark, Hark, My Soul" and as the procession moved out of the church, the organ sounded strong and confidently, "How Firm a Foundation," the hymn which was a special favorite of the faithful elder. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. One noticed specially was a casket spray from the two sons, marked "Father" and was the only flowers placed on the casket.

Death came to Mr. Adams suddenly on Friday morning, February 8th, at the home of his son Will, in El Segundo. While talking with the family in the yard, he was stricken and died instantly. Mr. Adams was born in Livonia, NY 70 years ago. After graduating at Pike Seminary, Pike, NY, he taught school for one year. He then attended Amherst College later taking up work on the home place. He united with the church at Pike at the age of 20 and shortly after was married to Miss Mary Smith, who survives him.

In 1888 he was made elder of the Presbyterian Church of Vineland, N.J., where he was then living. He moved to Warsaw in NY in 1889 and soon after was made elder of the Presbyterian church there. A little later, he was made clerk of the session of this church which office he held until he came to California in 1905. He has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of this city for eighteen years and for sixteen years of this time, has served most acceptably as clerk of session. He was elected moderator of the Riverside Presbytery in 1922. He was sent as a delegate to the General Assembly in 1916.
