After selling the paper, they moved to California. They lived in Kingsburg, CA. In 1909 Byron was also the editor of the Madison Chronicle in Madison, NE. He was also editor of "The Reporter," in Randolph, NE.

Byron's Obituary: Byron McKeen passed away Jan. 14, 1934 at Visalia, Calif. and was buried in the Kingsbury, Calif. cemetery. He was 70 and died of heart trouble."
