George W. Shough, a highly respected citizen and a veteran of the civil war, died at his home in Gilmore township, Monday, July 17, aged 83 years. He had spent his entire life in that community and had engaged in farming and stock raising. At the beginning of the civil war he enlisted in Company F, 7th West Virginia Infantry and served throughout the conflict. Mr Shough was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and of the Philip Gump Post G. A. R. He was a Republican in politics and a staunch supporter of the party principles. He was united in marriage with Miss Jane Gidley, whose death occurred six years ago. The following children survive: J. D. Shough, Morgantown, W. Va.; Philip P. Shough, Hundred, W. Va.; Howard, William O., Lot and Charles C. Shough, and Mrs. Charles V. (Rossie) Garrison, all of Gilmore township, and Miss Mary Shough at home.
