Wife of Thomas P. Johnson.

Mildred A. King was born 8 October 1828 in Monroe County, Georgia. On April 16, 1857 twenty-nine-year-old Milly, as she was called, wed Thomas P. Johnson in her home county. He was 48 and a widower with six children. In 1872, Milly's husband Thomas died and was buried in the Johnson Family cemetery, Antioch, Troup Co.

About 1875 she bravely moved her family by covered wagon over 45 miles of red mud trails from Antioch, Troup County, to the town of Bowdon in Carroll County, Georgia, where the children might have better schooling. By then, they were approximate ages 17, 14, 12, 8, 4, and almost 3.

For many years she made her home in Bowdon with her son James Nicholas Johnson, who had been only four months old when his father died. After James married (to Mary Ann Fletcher) in Bowdon in 1898, Milly moved with them to Carrollton, GA, where she died at their home on Feb. 20, 1919. Family lore has it that Milly King Johnson died in a leaf fire. She is buried in Carrollton City Cemetery.
