Albert was a tall man (6ft.) with brown curly hair, a hard worker and liked to play the harmonica and dance the jig. He was born in a log cabin and had a 3rd grade education. He was a farmer, mechanic, an inventor and briefly a policeman. He was a construction worker on the first highway built out of Springfield, IL. He made a machine to put the white line down the center of the road which the state of Illinois used. We have pictures of a snowplow he made and ran. His daughter, Alberta said he could do anything. He never remarried after his wife died and missed her dearly. He moved to Mason City, IL. from Kentucky before 1910 because some friends and relatives had moved there for more work opportunities and a better life. He visited his relatives (father) in KY often. HIs father Peter David, built a home for him on the farm so he would always have a place to live if he ever came back. He remained in IL. though where his family and grandchildren were. I am glad I had the privilege to know him as my paternal grandparents died before I was born and my maternal grandmother died when we were 4 yrs. old.
