He was a farmer and mechanic all his life. He had a wide smile and as youngsters we always had a good time visiting them on the farm. He had dark hair and eyes. He had two sons one of whom became a farmer. We were sad to loose our uncle so early.

Obituary: Mr. Pete Elmore
Funeral services for Mr. Pete Elmore, 57, were held at the First Christian Church, Mason City, Illinois on Wednesday, March 14, 1956 with the Rev. O.E. Bennett officiating. Mrs. Mary K. Mangold was soloist accomanied by Mrs. Mildred Kramme at the organ. Memorials were presented by Mrs. Otis Druien and Mrs. Edward Hindahl. Interment was in Mason City Cemetery under the direction of Max E. Conrad. Casket bearers were Otis Druien, Edward Hindahl, Clayton Smith, Roy Hess, Emmer Penewitt and Thomas Brownfield.
Pete Elmore was born in Green County, Kentucky on November 20, 1898, a son of Albert and Mattie (Cantral) or(Cantrell) Elmore. He married Letha Hadley in Green County, Ky. on September 1, 1918. The family moved to the Mason City, Illinois community about 37 years ago where he became known as a progressive farmer and a respected member of the community.
Mr. Elmore sustained a serious eye injury on August 18, 1955 while assisting in filling government corn storage bins at Mason City. He has been in failing health since that time. His death occurred at the farm home west of town at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 12m, 1956.
Surviving him are his father, Albert Elmore; his wife, Mrs. Letha Elmore; two sons, Vontross, correct sp(Vontros) and Verlon and four grandchildren, all of Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Elmore, New Holland, Ill. and Mrs. Alberta Wolf, Dixon, Illinois.
