Rites Monday
D. J. (Dock) Martin, 76, native of Navarro county, died in Twilight Home Sunday morning following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Corley Chapel with burial in the Hamilton cemetery.
The rites were conducted by Robert J. Potts, pastor of the First Baptist church. Martin was a member of the Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist church. Martin served as the last Navarro county assessor of taxes before the offices of assessor and collector were combined many years ago.
Surviving are a son, W. W Martin, Corsicana; a daughter Mrs. 'E. M. Caskey, Corsicana five granddaughters, Mrs. Doris Hooker, Corsicana; Mrs. Janis Myers, Olney; Mrs. Joyce J Redden, Dallas; Mrs. Martha Jones, Mt. Calm, and Mrs Nancy Lovelady, Tyler; 12 greatgrandchildren and other relatives.
Members of Corsicana Lodge No. 174, A.F. and A.M., were pallbearers.
