PRICE- Bessie Protopappas passed away May 2, 2004 in Roseville, Calif. She was 89 years of age.
Born on March 30, 1915 to her now deceased parents, Gust and Jenny Pappas, who raised seven brothers and sisters in Price.
A former 40 year resident of Sacramento, Calif., Bessie had lived in Roseville for the past four years.
For over 30 years, Bessie enjoyed a career in food service. She worked in schools, hospitals and retirement home dining rooms as a supervisor and dietician before retiring in 1981.
She was past president of Phioptochos Society of Price.
Bessie loved to entertain her family with her cooking. She was an exceptional baker and cook of her native Greek dishes.
Missing her greatly are three sons, Michael Protopappas of Alaska; Eugene Protopappas of San Francisco, Calif.; and Steven Protopappas of Roseville, Calif.; grandchildren, Nikki Yates, Christy Protopappas, Anastasia Protopappas; great-grandchildren, Nathan Yates, Noel Yates, Jacob Yates and Natalie Yates; sister, Mary Lines of Salt Lake City; and nearly 50 wonderful nieces and nephews.
The visitation is 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 6, with Trisagion service at 7:30 p.m., at Mount Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, Calif. Funeral service Tuesday, May 11, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church (Price, UT). Trisagion service Monday evening, 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Friends are welcome at Mitchell's daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
