Ioanna "Jennie" Jouflas was born September 20, 1890 in Mavrolitharion "Black Rock", Greece. She married Gust John Pappas 31 Oct 1911, and with him immigrated to the U.S. 26 Dec.1911. She never returned to Greece or saw her parents again. She was the first greek woman in Price, Utah. What courage it must have taken to leave her home and family at such a young age, and journey to a foreign country where she did not speak the language, and where there were no other women with who she could speak her native language.
She and Gus were the parents of nine children: Mae, John, Bessie,Sandra, Luke, George, Mary, Nick & Tula. All but Sandra are buried in Price City Cemetery.
Jennie died March 14, 1961 in Price, Utah.
