Harry (Buddy) was born in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, the oldest son of Harry J Fenner and Julia Barton Fenner, who had twelve children. In Army documents, his middle name was George after his Grandpa Barton, but this name does not appear on his baptismal certificate. As a young man he worked at Northridge Furniture Co with his father and his uncle. Harry served during WWII with the 532nd Field Artillery in the South Pacific at Leyte, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. For his overseas experiences, his war time diary, military photos and eulogy, please contact Therese.

He married Claire Lois Young on Feb 20, 1943, before leaving for military service. After his return from the South Pacific, he began a 41 year employment at David Clark Co, as a supervisor in the cloth cutting department. Harry had retired in 1986. He and Claire had six children: Therese, Claire, Jean, Robert, Susan, and Anne.

Shortly after his wife died in 1975, Harry decided to pursue his love for Scripture and the church by becoming a permanent deacon. He was in the first class that was ordained for the Diocese of Worcester on June 24, 1978 by the late Bishop Bernard Flanagan. Harry celebrated his 25th anniversary as a deacon just a few weeks before he died, on Oct 12, 2003 at the Autumn Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center near his house on Shattuck St. He was survived by six children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
