Graveside services for Inez Lee Veevers, 88, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. Mrs. Veevers died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2008) at Palestine Regional Medical Center.She was one of 15 children born to General Clarence Martin and Lula Frances Kidd Martin. She was born on Feb. 21, 1920, in Electra, Texas. Mrs. Veevers had lived in Palestine since 1946 and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. During World War II, she was a welder in the Todd Shipyard in Houston. She was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 3907. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Edward A. Veevers.Mrs. Veevers is survived by her son, George Veevers of Flint; daughters, Phyllis Jett of Palestine and Emma Schoonover of Wichita Falls; brother, Harold Martin of San Antonio; sisters, Joyce Gregory, Irene Wilson and Bernice Lively, all of Palestine; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
